Whuddup pimps?
Today commemorates the two year anniversary of /r/pimpcats, and I just have to say HOLY FUCKING SHIT, MAN. Two fucking years of being pimps. Two fucking years of the coolest community on Reddit.
We hit some major high points this year. We are now up to over 15,000 subscribers. The post quality has been consistently awesome (in part due to our excellent moderating staff, but mostly due to the phenomenal efforts of our users). Pimpcats is fucking fire, man. Straight fucking fire. Two years ago, when I started this sub, I had no idea that it would become such an incredibly cool, friendly place. To be honest, I thought it would fizzle out after a few weeks. (It almost did.) But all y'all motherfuckers have made this my favorite sub on Reddit. So give yourselves a pat on the back. Give your cats some nip in celebration. This is some seriously exciting shit.
On a more important note, we at /r/pimpcats would like to encourage you to get involved in your community and help out some pimps in dire straits. You don't need to adopt a cat or even foster one, unless you want to. We don't want people adopting cats that they can't take care of. What you can and should do, though, is go volunteer at your local animal shelter or pet rescue. Most of the time, these places need people to fold laundry, wash food and water bowls, sweep floors, &c. It seems like busy work, but it's actually very helpful. The chores done by volunteers make it so that the employees are better able to tend to the needs of the cats and dogs in their care. AND a lot of the the time, shelters need people to play with the cats! That's right. You can hang out in a room full of cats all day, playing with them, interacting with them, and teaching them how to be pimps. Most of the adult cats in shelter care don't get anywhere near the attention that they need. You can fix that. If you ARE interested in fostering/adopting, animal shelters are the best place to find awesome cats. Many places will spay/neuter and vaccinate the cats for you for free. So help a pimp out. Go down to your local shelter today.
